Today marks the official launch of “I am Mining,” a fresh storytelling initiative by the American Exploration & Mining Association (AEMA), spotlighting individuals within the mining industry, sharing not only their work stories, but their personal ones, too.

“Mining has a great story to tell, and it begins with its people. People who have the same hopes, dreams, passions, and values as everyone else. When we started brainstorming ways the industry could come together and share that story, we realized that our efforts would be incomplete if we didn't share more about the people, the miners. “I am Mining” offers an inside look into the wide array of roles within the industry and its communities, but most importantly showcases the relatable, diverse, and talented individuals who are mining. I hope this campaign inspires viewers to get to know and connect with the people in the mining industry and spark meaningful conversations around who and what modern mining really is,” said AEMA Executive Director Mark Compton.

The first "I am Mining" video released today, introduces Wendy from Arizona. Wendy is a mom and U.S. Navy Veteran that shares how she ended up in the job she did. On Wednesday, AEMA will release the second video in its series and introduce you to Sophie. A hiker and community volunteer who never expected to end up in the mining industry.

AEMA will be releasing new “I am Mining” videos every two weeks throughout the remainder of the year on their social media channels and website. Additional imagery will accompany the videos throughout the year. More information about the campaign can be found at www.miningamerica.org/IamMining.
